The idea of building a Design and Tech workshop was birthed in 2013 when we saw the need of providing our older boy students some form of trade skill training. Belmont Baptist Church and Belmont Christian College in Newcastle, Australia learned about it and started raising funds for this project in 2014. In January 2015, construction of this 92 square metres workshop began and was completed in late March 2015. Mr. Cain Sanchez, a Design and Tech teacher from Belmont Christian College, came soon after to help us set up and equip the workshop with brand new tools and machinery.

We will be conducting courses on metal craft, carpentry and basic electrical training. Beneficiaries will not be restricted to our students only. Villagers or students of other schools, who are interested, will be more than welcomed to attend courses at our school.

The New Light CDC is indeed blessed to have sponsors and partners like Belmont Baptist Church and Belmont Christian College who gave sacrificially and generously towards this project.
